What is the Bright Sun UV?
This lamp is a specially developed metal halide lamp for enclosures.
Metal halide lamps are very energy-efficient lighting sources. They are five times more efficient than standard incandescent lamps and produce significantly more light at the same wattage.
Furthermore, the spectrum can be influenced by special gas mixtures. The Bright Sun UV was developed to be easy to use in enclosures.
It also emits UVA and UVB radiation. Standard metal halide lamps have a UV block!

Why are there different versions?
In nature, there are varying light conditions, for example, between open landscapes like deserts and forests. It is believed that forest dwellers prefer warmer light. This has been confirmed by testing. While desert dwellers clearly prefer a white, daylight-like spectrum of 6000K, forest dwellers prefer a warmer spectrum of 4000K.
The Bright Sun UV DESERT is for animals from deserts and other landscapes, such as bearded dragons and spiny-tailed dragons.

What's the most important aspect of the Bright Sun UV?

Daytime-active reptiles in the wild enjoy a light intensity of over 100,000 lux. This value cannot be achieved with standard enclosures lighting! This lamp is the only commercial enclosure light that achieves this value (depending on the distance) and displays a true-to-life spectrum. Not only UVB is important, as many other manufacturers point out; the overall spectrum of the lamp and its light output must also be correct for animals to feel comfortable.

This lamp has comparable UVB and higher UVA radiation levels compared to current UV lamps. The UVB radiation is sufficient, and the higher UVA radiation corresponds to natural conditions.

The special housing with an efficient reflector and thick-walled glass maximizes downward heat radiation. Temperatures comparable to those of reflector incandescent lamps with the same wattage are achieved. Unlike incandescent lamps, and especially UV-mixed lamps, there is minimal heat loss upwards or to the sides. A 160W mixed lamp achieves similar temperatures to a 70W Bright Sun UV lamp but significantly increases the ambient temperature.

IMPORTANT:
WHAT DO I NEED TO USE A BRIGHT SUN UV?
1. A special BALLAST: The Bright Control PRO is always required. 
2. A socket: We recommend using Thermo Socket PRO sockets or Thermo Socket Plus Reflectors with plug-in connectors that can be connected directly to the Bright Control ballast via the jumper. The Bright Sun UV fits into the smaller version of the Thermo Socket Plus Reflector.

Can existing sockets be retrofitted?
Yes, connecting existing sockets to a Bright Control ballast is relatively simple. Make sure that the cable used is suitable for the high voltages that occur when metal vapors are ignited!

What size enclosures are Bright Sun UVs suitable for?
Due to their low heat output, Bright Sun UV emitters can be used in almost any enclosures. A 50W emitter can be used in a small enclosure measuring 60x40x40 cm. Even in very large enclosures, Bright Sun UV emitters are the best choice due to their lighting efficiency!
We recommend 8 hours of light per day.

Can the Bright Sun UV be used as a standalone light source?
In principle, yes. The Bright Sun UV provides sufficient heat radiation and a very high light output.
It therefore most closely resembles the sun.

The initial purchase price is higher than with other mixed light emitters, although the Bright Sun UV lamps themselves are more affordable than most mixed light UV emitters.
The required ballasts are a one-time investment. With each lamp purchased, you save considerably on electricity costs. In return, you get a significantly higher light output and a light source that can do it all!
For example, calculate the cost of a UV lamp with a reflector ballast, and keep in mind that there are also heat spots and that, like a mixed light emitter, the solution offers a significantly lower performance. Compared to other metal halide lamps, the Bright Sun UV falls into the lower price range. 

This chart shows the forwarding expenses and the forwarding weight. Please consider: The package weight is additionally to the product weight. Product specific there can be variations at the forwarding expenses, because the forwarding provider (e.g. GLS) transports smaller packages at a reduced rate.

The forwarding options "German Logistics Systems (GLS)", "Forwarding expenses according to packageweight / best price" only refer onto the forwarding within Germany. Forwarding into other european countries always causes upper forwarding expenses.
